Known as Lake Ada Hut, Ibbotts Hut or Number 8.

Located at Lake Ada, Central Plateau. West of Liaweene, take the road to Thousands Lake Lodge. The hut is 11 km to the west. Take the Double Lagoon TO, then the Carter Lakes TO, then past the Tin Lake and Little Blue Lagoon TO, and O’Dells Lake TO, then turn right and north to the southern end of Lake Ada where the hut is located. This is from the smaller carpark, before the main one, and you may need to walk.

History

This hut was built about 1962 by Gordon Ibbott, right on the edge of the lake, to support fishermen. At the time, there were many shacks like it, but the Tasmanian Government removed most of them. However, this one survived.

It no longer is owned by the Ibbott family but is in private hands, with plans to renovate it.

The Location is visible on Google Maps.
