Known as Store Point Hut or Store Points Hut.

Located at Store point with two other huts, on the Donnellys Creek Track. The Store Point Historic Loop Walk starts at the southern end of the campsite and takes in the burial ground and the schoolhouse site. The nearby Morning Star Walk leads to the Morning Star Waterwheel and the Crinoline Mine site, where a Cornish boiler is still visible.

History

Store Point was once a township established for the Donnellys Creek gold mining boom in the 1860s. This hut was built about 1972 and supported mining in the area at this time.

It was damaged in the 2013 bushfires and has been restored by locals then later upgraded in 2023 by members of the “Victorian Great Outdoors Program”.

The burial ground was never gazetted as such but burials occured from 1870 to 1910.

Construction

An unusual iron shed with a roof made from half sections of old water tanks.
