Known as Lake Rufus Hut

Located at Lake Rufus is inside the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. It is located between Lake King William and the King William Mountains.

History

This hut was constructed in 1975 with the materials being ferried across the lake to the Rufus Rivulet, then man-handled to the site. It underwent significant renovations in the early 2000’s but is rarely visited due to it location in a very remote wilderness area and being at 783m above sea level.

Construction

The hut was built as a A Frame, with a second story in the roof of corrugated iron. The end-walls are horizontal boards. There is a very valuable stove on the inside.
