Turntable Huts

Known as Turntable and Baldhead Logging Huts

The Turntable Huts were destroyed in the 2020 bushfires.

History

The original 7 huts were built in c1949 for the Forests Commission of Victoria to house the crew engaged in constructing Engineers Road from Bruthen to Baldhead. The remaining huts included the large mess hut, and several smaller dormitory huts.

These huts were in the process of being restored by VHCHA and volunteers.

Along with the loss of Glenmore huts in the Timbarra fires in early 2019, there are now no reasonably complete examples of mid last century logging camps left in Victoria, to our knowledge.
