Bulls Head Shelter

Location: When it snows, the road is often closed here. in the 1970’s it was not closed and cross-country skiers ranged far and wide to the south. After turning left, Bulls Head Shelter is located 200m south of the Piccadilly Circus intersection, where Mt Franklin Road and Brindabella Road (the Canberra to Brindabella and Tumut road) meet.

History: Until the 1980’s there was a traditional timber building on this site, used by forestry and road workers. The new building was built to stand against all weather and fires, and is constructed largely in stone. Therefore it provides a survival site, for those who are often caught out in the cars in snow falls.
