Tongue Bend Gauging Station

Known as Tongue Hut or Tongue Bend Gauging Station.

Located at Tongue Bend on the Kosciusko map at GR152034, originally shown on an SMA map at 877546.

History

It was built about 1945 as one of the first gauging stations for hydrology measurements. Also used as a flying fox base, to cross the river.

It was then abandoned in 1964.

Construction

Vertical weatherboard with an iron roof. Wooden floor.
